SOUTH BAY WOMAN OF THE YEAR

2009 - PRESS:  

 

For ten years, Switzer Learning Center has presented the South Bay Women of the Year Awards luncheon to recognize women who have made a significant and diverse contribution to the community.  This fundraising event gives Switzer Learning Center an opportunity to reach out to the wider South Bay Community and to promote our school and programs.  Selection of women to be honored is solicited from the community, past honorees, and local businesses with a committee of community leaders making the annual selection.

 

In 2008, the Woman of the Year Committee decided to include the South Bay Stars, students and young adults in the South Bay who have overcome enormous odds or given of themselves to others or their community.  In 2008, two Switzer students were honored as the first South Bay Stars for overcoming personal and academic challenges. 

 

This year the 2009 South Bay Woman of the Year include:  Sue Carter, Gen Gorciak, Debbie Phillips and Mary Serreno.  Join your friends in honoring these remarkable women on May 8, 2009 at the Doubletree Hotel in Torrance.   Past honorees have included:
