ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF

Rebecca Foo, Ph. D.
Executive Director

Dr. Foo has been with Switzer Center since 1988 and became executive director in 1994. Also a licensed psychologist, she earned her Ph. D. at the University of Southern California studying the Behavior Problems, Social Adjustment and Self-Reported School Competency In Three Subtypes of Learning Disabled Children and Adolescents. In her capacity as the South, West, Central Los Angeles Regional Coordinator of California Association of Private Special Education Schools (CAPSES) Dr. Foo conducts regional meetings for the administrators of CAPSES member nonpublic schools. As a member of the board of directors of CAPSES since 2000, she was elected Vice President South of the board of directors in 2003. She is a member of the California Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, Los Angeles Psychological Association, California Association of Nonprofits, Learning Disabilities Association and many other related professional organizations.

 

Leonard Hernandez - Principal

Mr. Hernandez has been employed at Switzer Center since December 1972. His steady rise within the organization, from teacher’s aide, to classroom co-teacher, to head classroom teacher, upper school coordinator, and for over 14 years, School Principal is an indication of his professionalism and commitment to the education  of our students and loyalty to our school. In 2002, the California Association of  Private Special Education Schools awarded him their Annual Award of Excellence.  As the school principal, he directs and coordinates the activities of our primary or secondary school. He also confers with teachers,  students, and parents concerning educational and behavioral problems in school. Mr. Hernandez holds a lifetime Learning Handicapped Specialist Teaching Credential.
Owen Fudim, Ph.D- Director of Clinical Services

Dr. Fudim has been with Switzer Center since 1983. He is in charge of the Psychology Department and supervises the psychologists and psychology interns. He is a member of the following associations: American Psychological Association, Orton Dyslexia Society, Association of Educational Therapists, American Association of Applied & Preventative Psychology, National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology, National Association of School Psychologists, Mental Health Medical Staff-Del Amo Hospital, Adjunct Professor CSPP-CA.

 

 

Doctoral Psychology Internship

Switzer Center has operated a training program since 1975 for graduate students pursuing a Doctorate in psychology. The training program has met the standards for membership with the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (A.P.P.I.C.). A separate brochure, describing the internship program in more depth, can be obtained by contacting the Director of  Clinical Services.

 

 

 

Darla Dunlop, Ph.D -
Director of Development

Darla Dunlop has been the Director of Development at Switzer Center since February 2004. She manages special events such as the annual Red Balloon Golf Tournament, South Bay Woman of the Year Awards, grant proposal writing, marketing and publicity. She is a member of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives.
