INTAKE
PROCEDURES
|
|
When a child is referred to Switzer Learning Center
from their home school district, referral paperwork,
including the IEP is forwarded to the Center.
If parents choose Switzer Learning Center
from one of the two or three referrals given to
them, they should call 310-328-3611 to make an
intake appointment.
Both the child and parent are interviewed
separately and a tour of the school is given.
Spanish speaking interpreters are available
to assist in the intake.
However, students must be able to speak
English to attend
Switzer
Learning
Center.
Occasionally academic testing may be
conducted or records requested from other agencies
or nonpublic school to determine appropriate
placement.
The intake evaluation is an opportunity for Switzer Learning
Center to determine if we
have the services to meet the child’s needs and for
the parents to explore whether this is the best
placement for their child.
Final determination is usually made 2-3 days
after the intake is completed.
