Switzer Learning Center staff is a dedicated group of special educators, therapists, paraprofessionals and administrators who have a passion for reaching and teaching children with exceptional needs. 

 

Rebecca E. Foo, Ph.D., Executive Director Dr. Foo joined Switzer Learning Center in 1988 after earning her Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Southern California.  Her area of specialization is in the behavioral, social and academic problems of special education children and adolescents.  As a psychologist, she worked with students and families before becoming the Executive Director in 1994.  Dr. Foo was honored as the 2006 California Woman of the Year by the California State Legislature for her work with children with special needs and her leadership in the field of special education.  She is an alumni of Stanford Graduate School of Business’ Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders  After serving ten years as California Association Private Special Education Schools’ Regional representative for nonpublic schools in South, West and Central Los Angeles, in July 2009 Dr. Foo became President of the Board of Directors of the California Association of Private Special Education Schools (CAPSES). Certified by American Red Cross to provide Disaster Services, Disaster Mental Health Services, and Family Services Emergency Assistance, she is also a FEMA trained Community Emergency Response Team volunteer.  Dr. Foo can be reached at (310) 328-3611 x 337 or drfoo@switzercenter.org  

 

o   Tangela Diggs, M.A., Director of Education

Ms. Diggs joined the staff in 2006 to direct the educational programs at Switzer Learning Center.  Working for five years as a special education teacher, Ms. Diggs attended California State University-Dominquez Hills receiving a M.A. in Special Education.  She holds a professional teaching credential in both general and special education and is the support provider for teachers in the University Internship Program.  For more than ten years, she has trained and supervised special education teachers and paraprofessionals whether it was in her role as Vice Principal, Principal or Director of Education.  Since joining the Switzer Learning Center staff, Ms. Diggs has administered the Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings making sure that students receive the services they need.    Ms. Diggs can be reached at (310) 328-3611 x 333 or school@switzercenter.org

 

o   Owen Fudim, Ph.D., ABPP, Director of Clinical Services

Dr. Fudim joined the staff as a licensed clinical psychologist in 1983 four years after receiving his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from UCLA.  In addition to directing the Clinical Services at Switzer Learning Center, Dr. Fudim provides individual psychotherapy and psycho-diagnotic assessments for Switzer students and supervises doctoral level psychology interns.  He has authored the CEASE, a behavioral observation and assessment tool that evaluates student’s feelings and classroom interactions and behaviors.  Dr. Fudim is a member of the American Psychological Association and a Diplomate in School Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology, the highest recognition available in professional psychology.  Dr. Fudim can be reached at (310) 328-3611 x 327 or clinical@switzercenter.org

 

o   Robin Sablosky, Ph.D., Psychology Training Coordinator

Dr. Sablosky came to Switzer Learning Center as a psychology intern in 1981 and returned as a staff psychologist in 1987.  A graduate of the California School of Professional Psychology – Los Angeles, Dr. Sablosky coordinates the psychology training program, supervising doctoral level psychology interns and registered psychologists in psycho-diagnostic and behavioral assessment, learning disabilities, diversity issues and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy.  Dr. Sablosky is a member of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 35 – Psychology of Women, and 53 – Clinical Child Psychology, and the California Psychological Association.  Dr. Sablosky can be reached at (310) 328-3611 x 328 or psychology@switzercenter.org.

 

 

Len Hernandez, Principal -  In 1972, Mr. Hernandez came to Switzer Learning Center as a teacher’s aide.  Steadily rising through the ranks of classroom teacher, head teacher and high school coordinator, he became the school principal in 1988.  Mr. Hernandez’s extraordinary commitment to the Switzer student is unmatched and he has been a stabilizing force at the Center for more than 35 years, by directing the primary and secondary school programs.  He holds a lifetime Learning Handicapped Specialist Teaching Credential.  In 2002, the California Association of Private Special Education Schools awarded him their Annual Award of Excellence.  Mr. Hernandez can be reached at (310) 328-3611 x 133 or principal@switzercenter.org
